Sure, it’s CIR’s motto. But it could just as well be Melissa Kost’s, as the CIR realtor lives it every day in her personal and professional life.

“CIR is about everything I stand for. They are family oriented, they support their realtors to achieve great results, and they respect their agents and their customers,” Melissa says. “I couldn’t ask for a better fit!”

Throughout Melissa’s real estate career, she has seen her commitment rewarded with great results. She achieved CIR’s silver award club her first year as a realtor, and has successfully achieved gold and most recently platinum awards.

But while the success is gratifying, for Melissa real estate isn’t just a business transaction, it’s about long-standing relationships. Melissa has come to consider many clients her friends, and that understanding helps her guide them get what they both want AND need.

In fact, Melissa says the greatest measure of her success is that a majority of her clients have come to her as a result of referrals and repeat service from her first years as a realtor.

Melissa acquired some of her well-honed people skills working for years in public health. Working in a downtown walk-in health clinic meant working with a variety of people coping with a wide range of issues, and left Melissa virtually unflappable.

Not to mention that Melissa is the mother of two – plenty of patience and organizational skills required there – and she fits her life around her family. “My time is precious because of that,” Melissa says. “And I respect the time and schedules of my clients too. That mutual respect is so important.”

As Melissa says, she doesn’t take anything she does lightly, or take things on half-heartedly. She puts her considerable skills, knowledge and energy to work for her clients from the beginning, guiding clients through the process, which, for some, can be quite overwhelming.

“In real estate, patience is a real virtue,” she says. Which is especially true when it comes to negotiations which Melissa considers one of her greatest strengts. “My ability as a negotiator – I’m patient, but tough when I have to be – saves time and money for my clients.”

As for CIR, Melissa says the fit extends beyond the similar business philosophies centred on trust and integrity. “The technology is top-notch, the support for realtors is second-to-none, and there’s an office convenient to every location in Calgary,” Melissa says. “Not to mention those offices have toy boxes available for kids, which can make all the difference for busy parents!”

Keen on community involvement, like CIR, Melissa volunteers with Girls Guides of Canada on a weekly basis, she helps regularly in school with her young children, she fundraises for various causes close to her heart and is on the social committee with CIR.
